Perdido Regional Development Fact Sheet

Perdido

·         The Perdido Regional Development host will be located in Alaminos Canyon Block 857.  Located in approximately 7,800 feet of water in the Gulf of Mexico, it is about 200 miles south of Freeport, TX.

·         This regional DVA (direct vertical access) spar will be the deepest spar production facility in the world.

·         First production from Perdido is expected around the turn of the decade, with the facility capable of handling 130,000 boe/d (100,000 bopd & 200 mmcfpd).

·         The Perdido host incorporates drilling capability and functionality to gather, process and export production within a 30-mile radius of the facility.  This concept will provide regional synergies, reduced cost and lower risk.  It will also reduce the size and number of facilities and operations in this challenging frontier area.

·         Shell will operate Perdido.  It will be jointly owned by Shell (35%), Chevron (37.5%) and BP (27.5%).

·         Technology:  first application of full host scale subsea separation and boosting and first application of wet tree direct vertical access wells from a spar.

Great White

·         The Great White Prospect is comprised of six and one half blocks in Alaminos Canyon in the Western Gulf of Mexico about 200 miles from the Texas coastline in water depths ranging from 7,500 feet to 9,500 feet.

·         The block numbers are: 812, 813, 814, 857, 858 (W/2), 900, 901.  These blocks were acquired in Lease Sales 161 and 171 in 1996 and 1998, through joint bidding arrangements with partners.

·         Shell, as operator for the partnership, commenced exploratory drilling operations on March 6, 2002 (jetting 36” casing) on Alaminos Canyon Block 857 in 8,009 feet of water.  The well reached its final TD on May 18, 2002.

·         The original well was drilled to a true vertical depth of 14,405 feet (14,408’ measured depth) by Transocean Sedco Forex's Deepwater Nautilus, an ultra deepwater fifth generation semi-submersible unit.

·         An appraisal well was drilled to a true vertical depth of 15,035 feet (MD-15, 180) during November - December 2002.  Shell has drilled a total of five wells at Great White, with the most recent spud occurring in August 2004.

·         A total of three oil-bearing formations have been penetrated to date at Great White: 1) Middle Oligocene age, Middle Frio Sands, 2) Lower Eocene age, Upper Wilcox Formation sands (WM12) and 3) Lower Paleocene age, Lower Wilcox Formation sand (WM50).  Seismic quality over the field is fair to good, and the Oligocene and Eocene objectives are supported by seismic amplitude anomalies related to hydrocarbon fluid fill.

Tobago

·         Tobago is located in Alaminos Canyon 859 in approximately 9,600 feet.  It is operated by Shell with 32.5%, Chevron with 57.5%, and Nexen with 10%.  The discovery well was drilled in 2004 to a total depth of 18,510 feet.  A sidetrack well was drilled to 18,425 feet.

·         Tobago will be the world's deepest subsea completion in 9,600 feet of water.

Silvertip

  • Silvertip, in Alaminos Canyon 815, is operated by Shell with 40% interest.  Chevron holds the remaining 60%.  Chevron drilled the AC 815 #1 discovery well in August 2004 in approximately 9,200 feet of water, to a total depth of 14,778 feet
